Senior Software Engineer (Full‑Stack, Electron/Web)

Sophelio is an ML/AI company in Austin, TX building a modular platform for multimodal data labeling, preprocessing, and analytics powering fusion energy research and other high‑tech domains. We’re hiring a seasoned product‑minded software engineer to drive core app development and delivery.

What you will do

  • Lead full‑stack development for a cross‑platform Electron/Web application
  • Integrate and ship user‑facing modules end‑to‑end (design → implementation → release)
  • Port desktop tools to a web‑friendly stack with stable, well‑documented APIs
  • Build robust data pipelines for large time‑series and multimodal datasets (HDF5/NetCDF/CSV)
  • Implement preprocessing (validation, smoothing/interpolation) and high‑quality visualizations
  • Package multi‑platform builds (macOS, Linux, Windows), improve performance, and harden security
  • Own CI/CD, testing, telemetry, and release engineering for a reliable app experience
  • Collaborate with scientists to turn methods into practical, shippable software

Required qualifications

  • 7+ years professional software engineering; proven track record shipping production apps
  • Strong Python and JavaScript/TypeScript; comfortable across backend and frontend
  • Electron + modern web stack (React or comparable), Node.js, bundlers, and packaging
  • Data engineering for scientific/time‑series data; performance profiling and optimization
  • Visualization (e.g., Plotly, D3, WebGL) for interactive analysis workflows
  • Testing culture (unit/integration/e2e), code quality, and collaborative review practices
  • DevOps basics (Docker, CI/CD), cloud familiarity (AWS/GCP/Azure)
  • Security and privacy best practices for desktop/web apps

Nice to have 

  • Experience with numerical/scientific Python (NumPy, SciPy), PyTorch
  • Familiarity with HDF5/NetCDF, large‑scale data handling, or GPU acceleration
  • Practical ML experience (applying models, not necessarily developing new research)
  • Domain exposure to plasma/fusion or scientific computing (helpful but not required)
